Moving Day: Part 1

I wrote the following entry from a bed and breakfast nook, correction, a bed and morning tea nook. False advertising at best.

Before I describe the move, here are some of our last pictures taken in the condo. We decided to take a break from packing the weekend before the move for a mini photoshoot!

Look who weasled her way into the luggage.

Being silly...

Why so serious?

One word to describe the first moving day: Grueling!

The move was absolutely exhausting. We met with the lawyer first thing on the Friday morning of April 25th, which dictated that Sophia would miss her morning nap, which is her lengthier and deeper of a sleep kind of nap. But, we knew we would have to roll with the punches on moving day, because meeting with the lawyer was oh so important. If only she could sleep in the car, but since she transitioned from the infant car seat to the next stage up, she can see outside of the car windows better, which keeps her distracted and not able to self-soothe to sleep.

The meeting with the lawyer was a great success!
Here we are in the boardroom closing the deal!

After the meeting, we were on our way to the UHAUL location to pick up a 14' truck. Daddy was a bit apprehensive driving the truck, but then he realized how small it actually was. He said it drove like a van! We came back to the condo, and began our move at 12:30 p.m.! Thank Heavens we had the help of Uncle Suri! Together with Daddy, they both moved about half of the furniture and boxes into the UHAUL truck, and then went to drop everything off at storage. By this time Sophia was very sleepy, and fussy as a result! So, I put her down for a nap. She slept for just under two hours, while the men were dropping off our stuff to storage. When they got back at 4 p.m. it was more heavy lifting, including Sophia's crib and high chair onto the truck, which would then be transported to the Bed and Breakfast nook. We were seriously running behind, and everyone was fatigued. We quickly cleaned up the condo and took a few last pictures standing where Sophia was born.

We didn't reach the Bed and Breakfast until 8:30 p.m. and by this time, Sophia's bedtime had passed, and she was exceptionally cranky. Well, everyone was. Our crib wouldn't fit through their bedroom door, so the homeowners had to take off their bedroom door, and help us disassemble the crib, only to assemble it back inside the bedroom and put the door back on! At this point, I was so tired and drained, and couldn't hold my 18 lb. baby anymore, that I was ready to fall over!

A couple days away from moving into our new home! Sophia has taken the environmental transition a bit rough. She's up during the nights more often than normal. The floorboards in this place squeak and creak like crazy, so when we enter and exit the room, she stirs. What an understatement to say that we are excited for our new place.
